
Stu worked as a proud Union carpenter and thoroughly enjoyed his 45-year career. He was always happy to offer his expertise to family and friends.
Music was one of Stu’s greatest joys and he was an accomplished musician. He played with well-known bands all over the area for over thirty years. Stu loved playing music with friends, those were some of the best times of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward R. Thies; and a brother-in-law, Bob Gustin.
Surviving are his loving wife, Krista, nee Gilbert, Thies; his mother, Fern, nee Arbeiter, Thies; two daughters, Karli Thies (Derrick Boyster), and Summer (Adam) Tucker; a step-son, Caleb (Ericka) Walker; a sister and brother, Sally Thies Gustin, and Scott (Letty) Thies; five grandchildren, Bayleigh and Xander Boyster, Gavin and Hunter Tucker and Layla Walker; two sisters-in-law, Sharon (William) Utz, and Jacquie (Matthew) Wilson; three nieces and two nephews, Casey Gustin and Jessica (Zac) James, Sawyer Thies, and Heather and Ryan Wilson; and a great-nephew, Jaxxon James.

Funeral: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Robert Koch officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, New Athens, IL.
