Print Obituary
TerryLee Erwin Stahl, 74, of Smithton, IL., passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021, in Caseyville, IL.

Mr. Stahl was born April 29, 1946, in Smithton, IL, the son of Walter and Elvira, nee Quirin, Stahl. He was a farmer, Prairie du Long Road Commissioner, and co-owner of TLC Day Care in Smithton. He was a charter member of the Smithton Jaycees. Terry was well known with the Smithton Community. He worked long and hard years, through sweat and tears, serving as road commissioner for Prairie du Long Township, farming, helping his wife, Aletha, have success with TLC, and raising his family. Terry enjoyed camping, cards, playing pool, and traveling. You could count on Terry for a helping hand. He was always ready to help. The family takes solace that he is above watching over them. We all know before he passed, he would want to say this one more time, “GO BLUES!”

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; a infant brother, James Stahl; a niece, Michelle Luttrull; and a nephew, Matthew Litteken.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Aletha, nee Diehl, Stahl, whom he married in September 1970; a son, Terris Elias Thomas Stahl of Smithton, IL; a daughter, Tara (Justin) Jackson; a sister, Cindy Stahl of Bridgeton, MO; two grandchildren, Owen Alexander Stahl and Guenevere Jackson; three nieces, Theresa Scott, Sheila Gallagher, and Annette Litteken; and a nephew, Eric Litteken.

I am so sorry to hear Terry had passed. He was a terrific husband and father. I know he loved my friend since kindergarten, Aletha. I remember when they met and started dating . I hope Aletha will get to see this post as I would personally love to talk with her but I don’t know where she is living now or how to get in touch.

I’ll never forget when Terry was cleaning a paint brush with gasoline while smoking a cigar after we painted the old Smithton Village Hall where the Jaycees held their meetings. I commented to him, that after he burst into flames, none of us would be able to roll him around to extinguish him. He laughed. I’ll always remember that laugh.

Sorry for your loss. Terry, I guess instead of watching planting and harvesting from the end of the field you will be watching us from above. You will be missed!
