Theresa Ann Hartmann, nee Hechenberger, 89, of Belleville, IL, born April 12, 1934, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Colonnade Senior Living, O’Fallon, IL.

Mrs. Hartmann was the youngest of 13 children. She was a class of 1952 graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Belleville, IL, and a class of 1955 graduate of St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, IL. Theresa worked as a registered nurse for St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Christian Welfare Hospital. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  She had strong faith in God, laughed easily, and enjoyed life fully.  She created a loving home, ensuring her family had memorable vacations, birthdays and celebrations, all while preparing an amazing home-cooked meal every night.  She was always available to help her children, her parents, and any family or friends.  She volunteered at Cathedral Grade School for many years. She and her husband Allen enjoyed playing cards and traveling with family and friends; backpacking across the Canadian Rockies and Colorado, taking cruises, and travelling across the US.

She was preceded in death by three of her children, Roman, Theodore, and James; her parents, Roman J. and Paula, nee Dahlmann, Hechenberger, Norman and Paula, nee Hechenberger, Jacob; eight sisters, Marie Voelker, Cecelia Smith, Sister Romana Hechenberger SSND, Theadora Grummel, Rose Marie Lodes, Henrietta Hechenberger, Clara Hechenberger, Olivia Hechenberger; and five brothers, Joseph, Edward, Herman Hechenberger and Charles and John Beckfeld.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Allen Arthur Hartmann, whom she married on April 10, 1958;
four children, Richard Allen (Tracey) Hartmann
Jeannine Ryder (Bryan Maier), Ron (Debra) Hartmann,
and Janice (John) Wagner;
eight grandchildren, Keaton, Jessica, Jake, Nicholas,
Matthew, Emma, Tess, and Natalie;
two brothers, Norman Jacob and Michael Jacob
one sister, Patricia Bach
and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Godfrey Mullen, OSB, officiating.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

A Celebration of Life will follow and details will be provided at the funeral services.

Mrs Hartmann was so sweet I grew up a couple doors down from her she always bought candy from me when I was selling it in school and she always had the best yard on the block. Prayers to her family
