Mr. McDonald worked as a coal miner before retirement. He was a member of the Freeburg Sportsman’s Club and was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved to hunt and fish. Tom enjoyed traveling west to Yellowstone National Park. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence B. and Fleta L., nee Mitchell, McDonald; a brother, Paul (Missy) McDonald; a niece, Libby McDonald; a nephew, Clayton Melvin; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and JoAnn Kern.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte “Charly” nee Kern, McDonald; two daughters, Amy (Mark) Tidwell and Laura (Eric) Beatty; a son, Thomas (Rachael) McDonald; five grandchildren, Madelyn and Audrey McDonald and a sister on the way, Emory and Harper Tidwell, and Emma Beatty; four sisters, Jane (Ted) Gale, Sheila (Phill) Richardson, Ann (Bruce) Weik, and Mary Melvin; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Dale Weber officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
