I am so sorry for your loss. I was saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I always enjoyed his unique smile & laugh and his generosity (fresh tomatoes were delicious). I loved his sharing of pictures of his boats. You could tell he was proud of them and some of the stories behind them. In the evenings when I left Adult Ed Department, he would have the elevator waiting for me. I'll always cherish that.

Dear Jan & Family, I would like to offer my deepest condolences for this huge loss. Tom's generous spirit will be greatly missed--from his big item donations to the annual toy drive, his willingness to share vegetables (the best tasting tomatoes!) from the garden to his involvement behind the scenes with grilling hot dogs or burgers for student worker appreciation week at the Success Center. I loved seeing him come by to say hello as Jan's shift was ending and his shift was starting. We love you, Jan!

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. My deepest condolences to Jan and the family. I got to know Tom during the few years I worked with Jan at the SWIC Success Center. Tom was a very nice man who always knew how to make people laugh. No matter what kind of day we were having in the Success Center, we knew our day was about to get brighter when we saw Tom walking down the hallway to say hello. I always enjoyed seeing pictures/videos and hearing Jan tell stories about Tom's boats. Model-making requires levels of patience, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail that I could not hope to possess, so I have a lot of admiration for those like Tom who make it look easy. Also, the boat stories usually involved family gatherings and I always thought it was very special that he could share this hobby he enjoyed so much with his family. Another thing I always admired about Tom was his incredible work ethic; he took pride in his work and always strove for excellence in anything he did, whether he was at work polishing a handrail to make it shine again or at home in the boathouse putting the finishing touches on his newest vessel, counting down the seconds until she was seaworthy. Through his meticulosity and diligence, he truly exemplified the term "ship-shape". Between all of the stories Jan has told me and the relatively short time during which I knew him, it is clear that Tom was a wonderful husband, father, and friend, and enjoyed all that life had to offer. He will be missed dearly. I offer my deepest sympathies and wish you all peace during this difficult time.

Jan and Family - we are so sorry to hear about Tom’s passing. Such a good man. I have wonderful memories of Tom stopping in at the Success Center and bringing me pens and mechanical pencils for the Success Center that students were always leaving behind. I loved learning about all the motorized model boats he built and getting to see them out at the lake. It was easy to see how much he loved you Jan. Know that he is still there with you at all times. You might not see him but you will feel his presence and he’ll find ways to let you know he is there. Watch for him. We love you and are praying for you.
