Mr. Sweet worked in sales of medical software for Navicure, Atlanta, GA, and for Gateway EDI, St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the band, “Asia Minor”, and also a “Bob Band” member. An avid sportsman, he belonged to many bass fishing clubs, including American Bass Club, Washco Tournament Series, Big Bass Trail at Coffeen, and Bass World Sports. He was a sponsored fisherman by Excite Baits and Bass Militia.
Tom was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Henry “Hank” Southard; his paternal grandparents, Doris and Howard Sweet; and an aunt, Virginia “Ginny” Zakszewski.
Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Sasha Korin, nee Bournival, Sweet, whom he married on November 11, 2000;
four children, Alexander Burton,
Sophia Sweet,
Nicholas Sweet,
and Mia Sweet, all at home;
his parents, Gregory Lee and Leslie G., nee Southard, Sweet of New Baden, IL;
two brothers, Gregory Lee Sweet II of Okawville, IL,
and Timothy (Teresa) Sweet of New Baden, IL;
nieces and nephews, Gregory Lee III and Brianna Sweet,
and Aiden and Gage Sweet;
maternal grandmother, Edna Southard of New Baden, IL;
father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Mary Bournival of Hot Springs, AR;
sister-in-law, Heather (Chris) McDonald of Boise, ID;
aunts; uncles; cousins;
and his canine companions, Gus and LuLu Belle.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Doug Stewart officiating.

I express my deepest sympathy. Tom is such an inspiration. I did not know him well, but I knew how great of dad he was to his kids.
When I said my prayers last night, I asked my dad to take Tom fishing up in Heaven. A kind soul that battled cancer for so long definitely goes straight to Heaven.
Alex, Sophie, Nick, and Mia, your dad is so PROUD of you, and he always will be. When I miss my dad, I ask my dad this, “Daddy, can I have a heart hug?” I always feel this warmness inside my heart when I ask for this special type of hug. Remember that your dad will always be a part of each of you.
