
Mr. Vielweber was a radio technician for Dechant Electronics and St. Louis Electronics in Belleville for 35 years before his retirement. As a United States Navy veteran, Verlan served two tours in Vietnam. Verlan was a member of the Freeburg VFW Post, the Freeburg Sportsmen Club, the Millstadt Gun Club, the National Rifle Association, and was a longtime volunteer fireman with the Freeburg Fire Department. Verlan loved to restore antique cars and was a member of the National Street Rods Association, the Lakers Car Club, and the American Motors Cyclists Association. He enjoyed playing the banjo and singing at jam sessions and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Rosella, nee Goeddel, Vielweber; and a brother-in-law, Cleatus Miller.
Surviving are a sister, Jo Ann Miller of New Athens, IL;
two nieces, Stephanie (Mark) Fischer of Waterloo, IL, and Annette (Scott) Gallagher of New Athens, IL;
two great-nieces, Michelle and Emily Fischer;
three great-nephews, Mason, Logan, and Gavin Gallagher;
numerous aunts and cousins;
and his car friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.
Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL, at a later date.
