Mrs. Meirink , nee Cathers, was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill. and was a homemaker and catalog clerk for Sears Roebuck & Co. She was a devoted wife and mother, and loved being the “Candy Grandma” for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Meirink, whom she married Aug. 19, 1943, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, Ill.; her parents, James and Emma Cathers; four brothers, Herbert Cathers, Russell Cathers, Robert “Johnny” Cathers and Paul Cathers; six brothers-in-law, Walter Meirink, Maurice Meirink, Robert Meirink, Alfred Meirink, Arthur Meirink and William Twenhoefel; and 10 sisters-in-law, Muriel Meirink, Viola Meirink, Mildred Meirink, Lottie Meirink, Frances Meirink, Sister Dorothy Meirink, CSJ, Mary Jane Forness, Ruth Cathers, Lucille Cathers, and Edith Cathers.
Surviving are her son, Michael (Cindy) Meirink of Apple Valley, MN;
two daughters, Maureen (Michael) Guntly of Bridgeton, MO,
and Jean (Joseph) Ostermeier of Swansea, IL;
nine grandchildren, Steven (Jill) Meirink of Apple Valley, MN,
Maria (Daniel) Rehlander of Elk River, MN,
Jonathan Meirink of Apple Valley, MN,
Lisa (Michael) Scalise of Wildwood, MO,
Janet Guntly of Chesterfield, MO,
Theresa (Matthew) Stone of Lexington Park, MD,
Daniel Ostermeier (Jennifer Green) of Belleville, IL,
Eileen (Christopher) Hill of Webster Groves, MO,
and Benjamin Ostermeier of Swansea, IL;
seven great-grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, Alison and Abby Meirink of Apple Valley, Minn,

two sisters-in-law, Betty (Leo) Stauder of Belleville, Ill.,
and Alice Twenhoefel of Belleville, Ill.;
two brothers-in-law, Leo Stauder of Belleville, Ill.,
and Leroy Forness of Belleville, Ill.;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John Myler officiating.
Burial will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
