Virginia Lee Joergensen, nee Armstrong, 79, of Belleville, IL, born December 1, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

A graduate of O’Fallon Township High School, Mrs. Joergensen retired as an electrical estimator for Glasco Electric in St. Louis, MO.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Parish, Belleville, IL.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Frank R. and Gertrude P., nee Drinkwine, Armstrong; a sister, Shirley Armstrong; and a nephew, Gary Heien Jr.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Peter H. Joergensen Jr., whom she married on December 16, 1966;
two daughters and a son, Nanette (Eric) Ruwe of Belleville, IL,
Diahann (Tim) Gagen of Belleville, IL,
and Stephen (Lori) Joergensen of McKinney, TX;
seven grandchildren, Stuart (Kelly) Ruwe, Alexander Ruwe,
Ashley Gagen, Donovan Gagen,
and Angela, Jenna, and Andrew Joergensen;
two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Rosemary Ruwe and Lillian Grace Ruwe;
her sister, Frances Heien;
a nephew, Kevin Armstrong;
and a niece, Susan Gasser.

Memorials may be made to the Althoff Catholic High School Athletic Department or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 12, at St. Peter’s Cathedral with Msgr. John Myler officiating.  Burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL, at a later date.

Pete, my dearest and deepest condolescences to you and your family. The loss of Virginia is great and my heart hurts with yours. She will be terribly missed.

I am praying for you and want you to know that God is always with you holding you in His loving arms. He will give you strength to make it through this difficult time. Keep your faith in God and your hand in His.
