Mrs. Renner and her husband, George, spent more than 30 years traveling to Marco Island, Florida. They were parishioners of St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, for 70 years. Virginia was a den mother for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was an avid bridge player and a passionate antique collector. Virginia had just celebrated her 101st birthday with a bingo party, carrot cake, and her dear family and friends, at St. Paul’s Senior Community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, George M. Renner, whom she married on May 28, 1949, and who died on August 30, 2011; her parents, John A. and Anna B., nee Dahlmann, Platzkoester; four sisters, Anna Platzkoester, Sister Marie Ann Platzkoester SSND, Paula (Jim) Yaekel, and Helen (Vincent) Bauer; three brothers, Albert (Margaret) Platzkoester, John (Irene) Platzkoester, and Joseph Platzkoester; five brothers-in-law, twins Daniel (in infancy) and David (Anne Renner Langenstein) Renner, John (Rose) Renner, Joseph Renner, James (Eileen) Renner, and Charles Glauber; two sisters-in-law, Joan Renner and Margaret “Peg” (Harold) Berkel; and nieces and nephews.
Virginia was the caring, loving mother of Tracy (Todd) Quernheim of Allen, TX, George J. (Lynn) Renner III of Belleville, IL, and Randy C. (Melanie) Renner of Washington, MO;
eight grandchildren, Sarah Renner (Michael) Sykora, Jenna Renner (Neil) Graser, Marilyn Renner, Lee (Dr. Megan) Renner, Laurie Renner, Alex Quernheim, Ben Quernheim, and Andy Quernheim;
three great-grandchildren, Jolie, James, and Julia Graser;
a brother-in-law, Thomas Renner;
three sisters-in-law, Mary Glauber, Teresa “Tottie” (Dr. Joseph) Bassler, and Rita Renner;
and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 15, 2021, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with the Rev. Kenneth York officiating.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
