Virginia L. Toombs, nee Modrovsky, 75, of Smithton, IL, formerly of Belleville, IL, born July 4, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, died Monday, November 16, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Toombs was a homemaker who was very involved in family life.  She was an avid baker who enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her family.  She loved playing bingo and playing slots. Virginia had worked at Peerless Enamel Company in Belleville, IL, and had also operated Toombs Day Care.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence O. Toombs Sr.; her parents, Victor and Virginia, nee Mays, Modrovsky; and a brother, Henry Modrovsky.

Surviving are two daughters and a son, Sandra (Micheal) Smallwood of Smithton, IL,
Sheryl (Keith) Janowski of St. Peters, MO,
and Henry (Maria) Toombs of Grand Prairie, TX;
eight grandchildren, Theresa (Shawn) Friederich, Micheal II (Meghan) Smallwood,
Ashley Janowski, Cynthia (Kevin) Pickering, Jonas Padullon,
Trevor Janowski, Callista Toombs, and Dereck Toombs;
10 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Miles, Destiny, Maeve,
Colton, Marin, Charlotte, Caden, Brantley, and Paxton;
two brothers and five sisters, Arthur (Gail) Modrovsky, Linda (Bill) Gaeth,
Matthew Modrovsky, Alice (Ron) Mabus, Rosemary (Charlie) Colston,
Pam (Bruce) Becker, and Judy (Tom) Tindall;
and nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Brian Downs officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
