Mr. Endsley worked at Freeburg Community High School for 20 years. He was the head of the maintenance department before his retirement. He was an active member of the American Legion, Boy Scouts, and the Veteran Assistance Commission. A member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, Walter was active with the St. Paul’s Church Mice. He enjoyed reading, watching baseball games, rodeos, basketball games, and gardening. He was a U. S. Navy-Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Gladys, nee Schooler, Endsley; brothers, Frank, Ancil, Mark, Allen, and Henry Endsley; and a sister, Ruth Duntz.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, nee Beisiegel, Endsley, whom he was married to for more than 52 years; a daughter, Dawn (Todd) Baldwin; three sons, Duane (Sandra) Endsley, David (Kelly) Endsley, and Dustin (Jessica Howard) Endsley; nine grandchildren, Brenden and Alyssa Endsley, Blake and Haley Endsley, Ethan and Brayden Baldwin, and Briar, Waylon, and Camden Endsley; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing, will be observed.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL.
Burial with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
