Yong I. Pierre, nee Choe, 75, of Belleville, IL, born December 22, 1939, in Seoul, South Korea, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at her residence.

Mrs. Pierre attended Ewha Girls’ High School in Seoul, South Korea, graduating in March 1955.  She earned her teaching degree at Seoul Teacher’s College in March 1959 and taught at Yong Hung Elementary School, Mun Kyong, South Korea, from April 1959 until February 1963.   Yong was a member of the Korean Nazarene Church, Fairview Heights, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Choe Yun Chong and Kui Pok Kim; four sisters, Choe Yong Won, Choe Yong Suk, Choe Yong Hui, and Choe Yong Cha; and a brother, Choe Yong Il.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Donald E. Pierre, whom she married on May 5, 1964;
four children, Enid K. Hicks,
Sheri L. (Mark) Dyer,
Sonya M. (Robert) Irvine,
and Monique M. (Antwoni) Phagan;
eight grandchildren, Shaka, Bernard, Chase, T’Anna, Paige,
Seth, Andre’ya, and Christina;
four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Darryl, Levi, and Laeah;
a sister, Choe Yun Cha;
and a brother, Choe Yong Son.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Korean Nazarene Church, 9801 Old Lincoln Trail Road, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Korean Nazarene Church, with Rev. Paul Hyun Seok Shin officiating.  Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
